Breakfast by Downtown Berkeley BART and campus

We start serving breakfast at 7:00 AM, Monday to Saturday, at 2101 Shattuck Ave. If you're getting off a train at Downtown Berkeley or walking over from campus, here's how to find us and what's on the breakfast menu.

Getting here

Downtown Berkeley BART station is on Shattuck Avenue between Addison Street and Allston Way, and it's served by the Orange and Red lines. Its street entrances are along Shattuck: two at Addison Street, two at Allston Way and one at Center Street. We're at 2101 Shattuck Ave, a short walk from those entrances. Look for the green awning.

Coming from campus, use the station as your landmark. UC Berkeley's west entrance is about a block from the station, and Center Street runs between the two, so walk west on Center Street until you reach Shattuck Avenue.

Eggs, your way

Every egg plate asks the same question: scrambled, sunny side up, over easy, over medium or over hard? The plates that come with bacon or sausage can also be ordered meatless.

If you're not sure which way to ask for them: sunny side up eggs are fried without flipping, so the yolk stays on top and runny. Over easy eggs are flipped briefly and the yolk is still runny, over medium is a little firmer, and over hard is cooked all the way through.

The plate names spell out what you get. 2 Eggs, 3 Bacon or Sausage adds home fries and toast or a muffin. The two waffle plates come with a waffle, one with bacon or sausage and one without. The smallest plate, 1 Egg, 2 Bacon or Sausage, is $8.65 with toast or a muffin.

The N.Y. steak comes the way you ask for it: well done, medium, medium rare or rare.

Omelettes

The plain and cheese omelettes are three eggs with home fries and bread, and you choose toast or a muffin. The specialty omelette comes with toast or a muffin and one of nine fillings, each with cheese: bacon, ham, turkey sausage, pork sausage, chicken sausage, gyros, Denver, mushroom or vegetable.

Saturdays keep the same hours as the rest of the week: 7:00 AM to 4:45 PM.
